The simplest way that I can explain the difference between Faith and trust involves simple English. Faith is usually used as a noun while trust is used as a verb. Faith is an idea to most people- something that is more internal than anything else, especially for teens; But trust involves action A person shows their faith through trusting in God- when times get tough, you have to rely or trust God's power to help you, while having Faith in God's power doesn't require any real work.

Super blessed by this! My current senior pastor has went out of his way to support, strengthen, and even shield me it is important that we do the same. Whether or not we feel or are being cared for by our senior pastor we are called to care for them, just like we call students to honor their parents and respect their leaders we are called to do the same for ours.

I've even gotten wrapped up in my own ministry's "Youth building" being built that I was almost in opposition to him, until he paused the conversation and said "I want to take back the last 30 min. Whether I'm right or not doesn't matter what matters is our unity as brothers. Lets start over and this time it doesn't matter if I am right or not." This humbled me and showed me how arrogant I was being and caused me to remember the need for my humility in a situation that he could have easily over ruled me in.

Great reminder! It is a challenge to manage all that comes with student ministry. Good planning also helps you to do more ministry than administration too.

Great blog as a reminder, even to those who aren't "rookies". We have to work as a team within our Pastoral Staff, and in every team, each person must play their role. I especially like the 3rd point about reminding the church he is the pastor. It's so easy to unintentionally undermine the pastor by listening to the complaints, or even sharing your own concerns with the pastor or the overall church ministry with people who are talking to you, which only serves to tear down rather than build up. Pastors must work together as a team, for the better of the whole church.

Thanks so much - I needed this today. We're doing a series on Wednesday nights right now about questions and knowing truth. It's easy to let myself get so caught up in answering their questions that I forget that this is a process that each of them has to think through in their own way and at their own pace.

My husband is a part time youth pastor... he also holds the title and responsibilities of worship arts pastor and assistant pastor WHILE working a full time job outside of the church just so we can pay bills. He has very little support from the lead pastor and I am constantly watching him become discouraged and frustrated because he is being told that he is "not doing enough" when he is trying his hardest to balance everything equally. I help as much as I can (I sing/lead worship on Sundays as well as volunteer with the youth every Sunday night and work a full time job) but sometimes I don't know what to say to encourage him. I'm watching him slowly loose his passion for youth ministry. Thank you so much for posting this series! I have been looking for something to encourage him and help him along this difficult path. Knowing that someone else has walked in his shoes will help him tremendously!

yes Shai Linne should be a rapper. telling the story of the gospel so that those who love Christ can hear the word in their own language. most of the other rappers talk more about themselves more than Christ in their rap. to God be the glory. Christianity is a Theocracy, not a sing about me story.
